You'll be well on your way to a profitable and rewarding medical career.

Now that you are educated, certified, or licensed in your preferred medical field, it's time to knock on a few doors to land that dream job in healthcare. While the process may seem overwhelming, if you plan ahead and do some research, you'll be well on your way to a profitable and rewarding medical career.

While not the only way to find a job in the medical field, finding a healthcare job can include searching medical job boards, contacting medical recruiters, and utilizing the resources of medical professional associations.

  • Medical job boards - Medical job boards such as HealtheCareers, MDJobsite, Medzilla, or PracticeLink enable you to search for healthcare jobs, find out who is hiring, and what positions are available. Keep in mind, Medzilla focuses on biotech, science, and pharmaceutical areas of healthcare, while PracticeLink is a job board for physicians. MD Jobsite and HealtheCareers provide a more broad area of healthcare jobs.
  • Medical Recruiters - There are thousands of recruiters willing to help you today, but if you're looking for a career in healthcare, it's wise to choose a recruiter that isn't a jack of all trades. Instead, use a recruiter that is a specialist in the healthcare industry. A recruiter who is a specialist in the healthcare industry has a better understanding of the nuances of a healthcare job, as well as the skills, education, and qualifications needed for positions. Plus, they will have more connections to relevant healthcare employers.
  • Medical Professional Associations - Professional associations such as the American Medical Association (AMA), American Nursing Practitioners, and many others provide networking opportunities, continuing education, job postings, professional certifications, and more. While some require a fee, many are free to join.
